Seniors

The Bible says that we as a church represent a body. We work together to get things accomplished. One of the vital parts of our body is Southwest’s Senior Adult Group.

Our Vision
Our aim is to be a group of believers who continually challenge both those in our group, and those who are in contact with us, to be transformed into the likeness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We hope to accomplish this aim through intimate community and fellowship, opportunities for acts of love and service, study of the Word of God, worship, sharing Christ with those who don’t know Him, and any other means that draws us closer together as a family and closer to God our Father. While this group is primarily for “Seniors” (age 55 and older), it is our prayer that God will use us to impact the world for His Kingdom.

Some of the Current Activities in our Senior Adult Ministry Are...

Sonshiners
Sonshiners is a group made up of folks 55 yeas of age and older. Sonshiners meet each 3rd Sunday at 7:00 p.m. for a meal, fellowship, and many times a short program. For more info. contact LV and Gail Perkins at 355-3044.

Prime Timers/Sunday Evening Service
This group meets on Sunday Evenings at 6 p.m. for worship and Bible Study. While not all who attend this service are Senior Adults, and all ages are invited, the majority are from the Senior age group. This group meets at the time most of our LIFE Groups meet although many in this group are a part of other small groups at Southwest.

LIFE Groups
LIFE Groups are a great way to enjoy intimate community and join together in digging into scripture. Southwest has several groups who are primarily made of Senior Adults and several that are inter-generational.

Merry Widows
Our Merry Widow is a fantastic group of women who love God and love life!! They gather for all sorts of parties and service opportunities. Many of our Merry Widows are also involved in the “Red Hat Society”.

Singles 39+
This group gathers for games and fun every 2nd Tuesday.

ALL Over the Church!!
The Southwest Senior Adults are involved in ministry from Babyland, to Youth Ministry, to Funeral Ministry. You name a ministry, one of our Senior Adults is active in it. We do not believe that you retire from the work and blessings of God when you reach “retirement age”.
